Hi Chris;
Tires are not supposed to rub on the brakes. I would check that the tires are the correct size, and that the brake assemblies are the correct ones.
I ran into a similar situation after a shop installed new brakes on my Comanche, only in this case the brake discs were wearing on the landing gear fork casting.
I called the company that had sold me the brake kit and was told that the installers hadn’t used the spacer that had been included with the kit.
I installed the spacer (it was slightly longer than the original spacer) in the correct spot. That pushed the wheel/disc assembly away from the fork.
You might take a look at the two spacers that position the wheel/disc in position relative to the forks; if they’re not the same length it’s possible that someone in the past installed them incorrectly.
Please let me know what you find.

Aztec brakes rubbing on tires
-
Hi All,
So, in looking at the tires and brakes, I noticed that the Cleveland brake calipers have worn a shallow groove in the tire sidewalls. These have been on the plane and flown like this for years. Doesn’t seem right. Anyone have ideas on why they might be rubbing? Everything looks to be in order. Currently, they are not rubbing (but close) and the tires are inflated correctly. I wonder if they were run at low psi?
Thoughts?
Thanks, Chris
