Hi Mike;
One of the best autopilot repair service is Autopilots Central in Tulsa. website is http://www.autopilot.com.
I’m not sure I know of an economical engine monitor for a twin simply because installing the monitor takes quite a bit of time, especially when the wiring must be run from the nacelles into the cabin. . The big three are Electronics International (www.buy-ei.com), JP Instruments (www.jpinstruments.com) and Insight Avionics (www.insightavionics.com).
Each manufacturer is advertising special pricing on some of their units right now.
I have flown with both a JP Instruments monitor and an Electronics International monitor.
Happy flying
Altimatic V flight director
-
I have a 1973 Aztec PA23-250T with an Altimatic V flight director linked to a G530W. It has been working well until recently when it has stopped capturing on the NAV and Approach modes. The HDG mode still works fine. Suggests that the autopilot is still good but that the G530W and flight director are no longer talking. Can anyone suggest a way to check this, any quick fixes, and is this something that most avionics shops can fix or do I need a specialist in old autopilots (if so who?).
A second question relates to engine data display – can anyone suggest an economical digital engine health display system to monitor the engines and optimize fuel use.
Thanks for any help. My plane is located at KHPY Baytown TX.
