    UPDATE:
    Dear Mr. Dellenbusch,

The ”Hutch” modification to the Pawnee using the Cessna spring steel gear was from quite a few years ago and is very difficult to find information about. Charles, our airframe shop foreman, had to really hunt to get information when we last worked on a Hutch Pawnee. He ended up talking with Mike Hutcherson in Texas, and we were able to buy a blueprint from him for the gear installation. We still had some problems as someone had modified the original installation(which was not a good design), but we were able to get the gear working again. Charles thinks the person who now owns the Hutch STC is in prison, so that may be why you cannot contact him. If you want a copy of the blueprint we have, we will charge you what they charged us, $210.

    Regards,

    Dave Johnston

    Hi Lynn,
Reach out to David at Johnson Aircraft. He is aware of this STC and has some suggestions.

    Hi,
I contacted the National Agricultural Aviation Association to see if it is able to supply a list of Pawnee operators. It hasn’t called back.
One suggestion; contact both the past owner and his mechanic to see if they have the information you need.
Write Mr. Slone a registered letter; if he accepts it you’ll know he is not indisposed.
Last, you may be able to get what you need through a Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) request.
    I have included links.

Here’s the FOIA pertinent links I mentioned over the phone:
    Some background on FOIAs: https://www.faa.gov/foia/
    Make a FOIA Request: https://www.faa.gov/foia/foia_request/
If you need to speak with a FOIA coordinator: https://www.faa.gov/foia/foia_coordinators/?action=contact_coordinator

The FOIA process is slow; but it may eventually get you what you need.
If I find out anything from NAAA, I’ll let you know.

Let me know how I can help further.

Yup, thanks. All of this we knew already. The certificate holder is unresponsive, and all of the phone numbers/emails I have been able to find for him are out of service. Actually — there may be a reason for this. Just Google the his name if you are curious.

We know the Tulare guys. They did our annual in 2017.

Still looking to see if we can drum up the technical info that came with the STC.

You probably already know this but here’s a starting place. The STC was originally issued in 1964, but it’s been renewed in 2016 by:
    This certificate issued to:
    Martin Slone

    STC Holder’s Address:
    401 Lakeview Dr
    Oldsmar FL 34677
    United States

Description of the Type Design Change:
    Installation of Flexsteel Landing Gear

    Application Date:
    03/26/1964

    Status:
    Reissued, 08/23/2016

    Responsible Office:
Atlanta Aircraft Certification Office (ACE-115A), Tel: (404) 474-5500

I am not very savvy about Ag aircraft but the folks at Johnston Air Service in Tulare, CA are. Give the parts department a call; they may be able to point you in the right direction. The number is 559 686-1794.

Let me know if you need me to dig further.

    Best

We purchased a Pawnee last year with STC SA441SW This STC replaces the stock gear with steel spring ones, similar to those on a 180. Technical info for the STC was missing from our records, and we have had no luck contacting the certificate holder. Does anyone else have this STC? We would like to get technical info for the purpose of making some repairs.
