    Dear Terry,
In reference to your article, “Why I Chose To Replace My PA-28 Fuel Selector”, dated January, 2020, in the Piper Flyer magazine, I’d like to do the same thing with my 1967 PA28-180C. However, I am having difficulty finding several parts sources. Please help, if possible. (1) Cover Plate (760-548), (2) Support,, and (3) Handle.
Any help will be very much appreciate. Thanks,
    Ted Lucas

    Hi Tom.
We agave a member who is looking for the “Gate” that holds the valve in place. Here is his email to us.
    Hi Jen,
The gate is a little confusing for me. I’m assuming that’s a bracket that supports the valve. I’ll need that information when I ask the salvage yard for help. Thanks so much for helping.
    Ted

Are you aware of what he is talking about and possibly a part number?
    Kent
    ———————————————————————–
    Kent,

So back in 1986 Piper released SB 840 that addressed the situation (That Terry wrote about in the January article). Mainly about how there was no positive locking feature to prevent the pilot from inadvertently turning the fuel off (shown in the picture on page 32 of the article). .

Terry’s article also mentions installing a new selector valve but that is just the valve the handle and cover are separate.

Piper released a revised version of SB840A in 2013 that updated some verbiage and part numbers. SB840A references kit 760-546 that contains all the parts necessary to install the new cover and handle assembly shown on Page 30 ( but not the selector valve) of the article. However to complicate things the LEFT and RIGHT placards on the cover on some were put on wrong so Piper issue SB 1309 and the 1309A ( AD 2018-07-03) to inspect the covers to be sure the placards were correct.

All that being said the major parts of kit 760-546 are : (also the kit is a quote only so that makes this even more difficult )
    464-100 handle
    99754-002 Support
    99635-009 Cover
the Parts guy 856-767-1233 has all the parts ..

The gate or latch is built into the new cover ….this is what prevents going to off inadvertently
