I talked to Mike at OSH and he said they are ready to ship and he is waiting on the FAA to approve it, which he was confident they will. He said 3 weeks, which seems to be a standard answer. Price is $6500.
Electronic Ignition Options to replace D3000 Mag
-
Hi Dennis,
Since Mike Kobylik of Electro Air is going to be one of the featured speakers at “The Gathering at Waupaca” this year you’ll be able to get an update right from the company that makes the electronic ignition system for the dual magneto.
Hope to see you there.
SExcellent! Please keep us updated.
Update here on this issue, ElectroAir / Smooth Power LLC believes that they will have an STC in the next few weeks.
From Darrell from Smooth Power:
The new Electroair system is actually two separate systems. Each side has its own trigger, controller/MAP, and coil. One system will be triggered by the MTH (mag timing housing) which will replace the dual magneto. The other system will be triggered using a crankshaft trigger wheel. One of the systems will be wired to the main electrical system and the other will be wired to either a backup battery or a standby alternator.Hi Dick,
I checked with contributing editor and technical guru Steve Ells and he said he’s not aware of any system to replace the D3000. However, you may want to contact the folks at Electroair to see if they can help you or have something in the works.Electroair

https://www.electroair.netI am exploring options to replace my D300o magneto which is a single drive dual magneto — not redundant magnetos. What options are currently certified for use with an STC on the IO540K1B5D. Anybody know?
Dick
