Continental Aerospace Technologies™ has released a Magneto Service Kit designed to simplify the ordering process while supporting the 500-hour magneto service interval for Continental® and Lycoming®* engines. Comprised of genuine Continental® OEM components, the kits provide a complete, cost-effective solution that allows maintenance providers to complete the service inspection efficiently while maintaining the engine’s factory warranty. The kits are designed for use with the 20, 200, and 1200 series magnetos on Continental® and select Lycoming®* piston engines.
Regular service and inspection are essential for maintaining consistent ignition performance. To ensure compliance with Continental’s Magneto Service Support Manual, X42001 and X42002, all Continental-Bendix™ magnetos have to be inspected at 500 hours. The procedure typically includes disassembling, inspecting all wearable parts, cleaning, replacing parts, and testing. Continental’s Magneto Service Kits include a gear kit and all the required parts for a standard 500-hour inspection, along with the FAA 8130 form for the parts. This kit features key wear components, including the distributor blocks, retaining rings, bushings, and felt seals, to optimize magneto performance without requiring a complete overhaul.
Continental’s service kits are a cost-effective alternative compared to field overhauling or purchasing a factory-new magneto. Each is designed to deliver value and to give customers the flexibility to choose what works best for their engine and maintenance schedule. With competitive pricing and cost savings, these readily available kits can keep aircraft in service. All magneto service kits use genuine Continental® components, thus maintaining their engines’ factory warranty protection.
“We designed our Magneto Service Kits to simplify the maintenance experience for owners and their maintenance providers,” said Oliver Leber, Vice President of Global Sales & Applications Engineering at Continental®. “By consolidating all essential and genuine components into a single kit for your engine model, we reduce the ordering complexity, protect the owner’s warranty, and help manage maintenance costs while maintaining the engine’s performance and fulfilling the Continental® standard.”
The Magneto Service Kits are now available through your preferred distributor. To locate the part number for your inspection kit, visit our Ignition System Guide at https://continental.aero/genuine-continental-parts/.
