Well-known insurance executive Marci Veronie is the first winner of the Women in Aviation International’s Award of Excellence. Veronie is senior vice president of Avemco Insurance, where she has worked for 40 years. She now is head of both the marketing and underwriting divisions. The Award of Excellence is not an annual award and will only be handed out when “truly extraordinary” person comes to the attention of the board. “As we shaped the vision for this award, one name kept rising to the top, Marci Veronie,” said Board Chair Michaela Lucas.
Veronie said the work ethic she learned from her family propelled her to this award. “This recognition means a lot, especially because it came from peers who truly understand the work behind the scenes,” she said.
