Steve,
Thanks so much! I was out sick for a couple of weeks and just saw your reply. I will give them a call on Monday.
John
Hi John;
I’m non plussed.
I searched to find a shop that can get your airplane back in the air.
And provided that information.
Please let me know if you have found another mechanic or shop that can take care of you.
As I wrote before, you can contact John Nicholls at 801 550 5676 to get him and his guys scheduled to start work.
Best,
SteveGood Morning John;
I have found a shop and a mechanic that is in the SLC area and has indicated it can take care of everything for you.
The plan is to get a ferry permit and take your airplane to their facility to fix the wing, do the annual and make sure your engine is set up correctly.
Please contact Jeff Nicholls at Alta Avionics (jeff.nicholls@altaavionics.com and/or 801-550-5676).
Jeff has working the SLC area for 30 years and has contacted A & P (IA) Jim Dickson who can do the work. Jim will get the ferry permit, and if necessary fly your Cherokee to the facility where there’s a heated hangar and the needed tools.
Please keep in touch and send me updates on how this is all going.
Best,
SteveJohn;
Wow, that’s too bad.
I can’t tell for sure but it looks like the jack punched a hole in the wing skin, and bent the flange next to it.
It looks like the bent flange is part of a wing rib, which means it isn’t too thick–there’s a possibility it can be pulled back into place during the repair.
It looks like you pulled the fuel tank to get a good look at the damage–that’s smart.
It looks like the flange that supports that edge of the fuel tank was not damaged, which is good.
I have sent some feelers out. When and if I get any replies I’ll forward them.
It seems as if you need the wing repair, an annual and an engine break in.
If you make any progress please let me know.
Steve
