Thanks for following up with where you were able to find the seal kit, Alan. That’s helpful info for other PA-28 owners.

I had a 1963 PA-28-180 for awhile and had to replace that exact seal in the handbrake cylinder. That was the easy part…bleeding those brakes, on the other hand…not so easy.

My cylinder is p/n 63353-00 . I found the seal kit at Plane Parts Inc, p/n PPPBV18 so this problem should be solved. Thanks Alan

Hi Alan,
I am looking at figure 46 in the PA 28 parts manual.
I don’t see anything that’s identified as a back up ring.
The two O rings are off the shelf and are available from any parts house
There is item 48 (753 172) that is identified as a Dyna-seal. According to Aero Val that part number is superseded to 494-062. A google search showed that it’s available new from High Performance Aircraft in El Cajon, CA. The ph no there is 866 587 2787.

If I’ve missed something, or am looking at the wrong illustration, please let me know.

I’m looking for the p/n or source for the white teflon piston seal in a 63 PA28-180 handbrake cylinder p/n 63353-00. Two o rings are shown in the parts catalog but the piston seal is not. There is a note that if the cylinder assembly is needed to order a later p/n cylinder assembly. Piper got these seals somewhere and I hate to get a different cylinder when I could just get the proper seal. I have been unable to match the dimensions to back up rings. Has anyone run into this problem?
