Hi Kayla,

Thank you for the information. As stated in my post, I have tried positioning the pins parallel to the binding (“laterally” was the term I used), and the mats still crept forward. I believe the snaps would not have enough holding power, given that the pins parallel to the binding + velcro provided insufficient resistance. I am not sure what to do at this point.

Hey Bill,

Kent reached out to us at SCS so we wanted to follow up on this.

When using the carpet clips, they do require the mat to be offset and with that metal lip in the way, there is not perfect alignment from main flooring to the mat. That being said, if the pin is placed in the carpet at the aft most edge parallel to the binding, it will fit slightly better. I’ve attached a few photos of a carpet clip installed correctly from the top and bottom views.

Here’s a list of ideas:
1. Adjust carpet clips as shown in photos
2. Remove carpet clips, pull mat parallel to the metal ridge and secure floor mat by installing snaps into mats and main flooring kit – we have snaps we can send free of charge – yet you would need a snap setting tool.
3. Trim forward edge of carpets and have us rebind – which can be combined with any of the above options.

As a follow up from a few months ago, I received my floor mats for my Dakota from SCS. The mats look good, but installation is concerning. SCS provides two forms of attachment to prevent forward creeping – pins and velcro. I installed both, but the mats creep forward, potentially interfering with the pedals.

The culprit here is the lateral box tube visible in one of the pics. The mats are made as such to abut to the box tube. However, the pins are designed to be pushed forward into the carpet. I tried this configuration and this positioned the mats too far forward, pushing the other end of the mat up against the firewall and curling back. I tried installing the pins laterally, but this did not offer enough resistance and the mat again crept forward.

I contacted SCS for a solution, and they did not have a solution other than “you may need to look online for other clips to try.”

Overall, disappointed in the mats and SCS.

Yes. They vacuum very well, none of the fibres seem to come off. They wipe clean too. I’m very pleased with the quality.

Here are the photos.

They came with grippers to attach the mat to the floor carpet to stop the mats sliding. I used the rough part of some velcro instead, it grips the carpet and works well.
