On the way home from Oshkosh we had extra time so we decided to head to Nashville, TN. We had been watching the weather and it looked like heading straight south would be workable. Then we would have about a 2 hour flight home from there. We wanted to go into downtown Nashville but I wanted a smaller airport to keep costs down. I chose Music City Executive (KXNX) and called to check on renting a car. We planned on spending the night and leaving the next day. They said they would check on the car but not to worry as they had a crew courtesy car we could use. So we launched off and got to XNX in the afternoon. They had not been able to get the rental car and then offered their courtesy car for us. I mentioned we wanted to spend the night and was told it was not an issue. When I saw the car I was pretty shocked as the typical crew courtesy car is pretty old and used up. This was a practically brand new Honda Civic. It had less than 14,000 miles on it! We very happily took it downtown after checking into the hotel. Other than the high cost of parking downtown (I was lazy and used a parking deck close to the action) and the high price of the Johnny Cash museum we had a good time. I did enjoy the Johnny Cash museum and afterwards we ate at a roof top restaurant. We probably drove less than 50 miles round trip and when I gassed the car up it barely took any gas as it got such great gas mileage. So the FREE car and super gas mileage helped balance the cost of the parking and museum. Overall a very nice experience and I would recommend Music City Executive. Gas was reasonable and when I landed I had a bunch of bug splatters all over the leading edges of the wings. I asked the linemen if they would be willing to clean them off for $25 and they got their bug cleaner and got right to it.
We thought this was a great overnight and felt treated very nicely. It looks like Music City Executive knows they are small but they are growing and trying hard to get your business.
The linemen jumped right on the chance to make a few extra dollars and I got the bug guts off my plane so I didn’t have to deal with them drying even more and getting harder to get off.
