Joseph, I am with Gulf Coast Avionics the yaw dampener option will make for a better ride in turbulence. It’s really a preference on wether or not it’s a necessity. But feel free to give me a call to discuss it further!

Good morning all. Planning on having the GFC-500 installed in our 235. I already have 2 G5’s and will be installing the GPS 175 navigator and GNC-255 as Com 1 as well (beginning my study/training for IFR). My question is regarding the yaw damper option on the AP. Does anyone have any experience with this setup and if needed for the 235. I’ve read plenty of posts on the Mooney forums but having no luck with any Cherokee discussion for this AP. Approximate extra cost for the YD install is $3K (parts/labor). Thanks!
