This is a report I’ve been wanting to get to write! I have gotten to eat the brisket at Cooper’s Old Time BBQ before but never flown there. This time I got to fly to Llano from San Marcos which is a short hop but totally worth it. First you get to see some wonderful Texas Hill Country views. Then Llano airport is a very nice airport with good basic facilities. But the best is the crew cars that you can take to get BBQ in about a 5 minutes ride and you are in brisket heaven! Cooper’s also has pork and turkey as well as sausage but I just save room for the brisket and beef ribs! I also recommend the cobblers, my favorite is pecan but try them all. Also, they include free pinto beans as they have for decades. This is old style with concrete floors and picnic bench seats but this is the GOOD STUFF. Highly recommend.
In addition after you have had your fill drive the very short ride to the town square just to take in the history and you can get a coffee at Fuel Coffee. Then head back to the airport for another flight over the HIll Country. Thank me later.
