    Hi Edward,

    I’m very interested in getting answers to the questions you posed in your original post.

    The flat rate for maintenance tasks is a new one to me. 

    I’d like to learn more.

    Where are you based?  

    Leasing your airplane back can be advantageous to you; if the leaseback agreement is equitable, your costs are greatly reduced. But if the agreement is weighed heavily toward the flight school, you will end up paying for maintenance tasks that aren’t needed. Especially is there’s a flat rate for monthly maintenance.

    Good question but one I can provide guidance on until you ask each of the companies to provide you with a detailed list of 
    1) what “incidental maintenance” consists of. 
    2) What “routine maintenance” consists of. 

    Perhaps one of them is better than the other, but I won’t know until I understand what those terms mean.

    It would also be helpful to get the hourly cost for labor outside those definitions.

    And an estimate on what each would charge you to repack and service a nose landing gear strut, and another estimate for what each would charge you for a tire change.

    I spoke yesterday with the owner of one of the largest flying clubs in the country. He handles maintenance by listing the cost of each maintenance task, by parts and labor in a bill at the end of each month. 

    But his company has its own maintenance staff and charges labor at $65/hour.

    Hi, I am interested in leasing back a Piper Cherokee 180. I can lease back to a flight school that proposes to have rights to charge me up to $2000 in incidental maintenance per month. Alternatively, there is a new flight club that proposes to handle all routine maintenance costs under $1000. Seems like the flight club is a better deal. Let me know what you think.
