Looking for source for seat-recline cams, 1978 Piper Model F Aztec
-
Hi Frank,
New cams are available. The part number is 19365-00. As are new retaining pins–480701.In order to remove the existing pin, you’ll need to pull the shaft the cam is on, and supporting the shaft, drive out the in with a punch. You should then be able to slide the damaged cam off the shaft.
You may need to “clean up” that shaft a little to get the old one off and new one on.
If it were me, I would position the new cam to line up with the stop, then drill the shaft for the new roll pin and put it in.
One tip I used when I was wrenching full time is to run a loop of safety wire through all roll pins to keep then in place. into the roll pin then around the shaft. Complete the loop by twisting the two safety wire ends together for a few turns.
SteveHi All –
My 1978 Piper Model F Aztec has mangled seat-recline cams (or at least I think that is the name for this part) on the middle row seats. Please see attached pictures below. The seats always recline fully, and won’t stay in the full-upright position.
Has anyone seen this problem before, and if so, have you identified a source for replacement parts? Or were these seats rebuilt sometime in the past 45 years, and these are not standard Piper parts?
thanks!
-Frank.
