Sorry, I thought I answered this from my iPad. Any Cessna mechanic worth his salt will have a large selection of door keys since it’s very common for owners to drop off their airplanes then catch a ride home with the key in their pocket. It’s believed that Cessna only used six or eight different key sets; that plus the fact the lock sets are getting old and worn makes it very easy to get in.
That said, I do not know if the same story is true for Pipers. I am going to ask some Piper owners I know. I’ll get back to you when I get an answer.
If there’s another Piper of the same vintage near you, it’s worth a try to ask them to try their key in your door.
