Hi Al,
The holiday season caused a delay in getting this information from the Piper factory support staff.
The insulating blanket material can be purchased under part number 189-446. I typed “Piper 189-446″ into Google, and it showed sources.
You’ll have to determine how much you need by measuring what area was covered on the inner surface of your upper cowling.
The blanket was affixed using a very common high strength adhesive known in hangars around the world as 1300L. It’s a 3M product
Aircraft Spruce and Specialty (www.aircraftspruce.com) sells a couple of heat shield products that, from user reports seem to be able to protect fiberglass cowling parts, such as HEAT BARRIER ADHESIVE BACKED – 12″ X 12” part number 08-00630. But the products in the Aircraft Spruce catalog are not the material Piper applied to your cowling.
Sorry it took so long to get you an answer.
Happy Flying.
Steve
Aircraft Spruce also sells 1300L; price is $72/quart.
