    Hi Robert;
    Folks are asking where you got the cool labeled switches. I recall that I bought a bunch for a panel upgrade from 21st Century Aviation in Ozark Missouri a couple of years ago, but that company apparently folded.
    Are the switches you installed approved for installation? Or did you succeed in getting a field type approval?
    Thanks
    Steve

    Hey Bob,

    I am looking to put the same switches into my panel upgrade. Did you do these as a minor modification logbook entry, or something else?

    Panel is gorgeous. Who did the sheet metal and silk screening?

    She is all done! Flight tested, and the end of a six month journey filled with setbacks, progress, more setbacks, and “Top Ramen again for dinner?”

    Been busy for a while with everything going on, here’s the latest with the upgrade…….
    Lost some time with recent events, but we are now set for first flight next weekend.
    We had an issue with the G3x Touch not communicating with some of our brand new components that were designed with the G3x in mind. The PFD comes with a default setting that tells the G3x Touch there are three MFDs attached. I don’t know why. Five inputs are allowed, so once you add two, you’re done. We had the GNX375 and GMA345 in just fine, but couldn’t get the system to recognize the 2 GNC255 NAV/COMs. Well, after several days trying to figure it out with Garmin, we finally discovered that default setting and changed all three MFD options to “No”. So, learn from my experience and if you get a G3x Touch and have issues connecting peripherals, that’s why.

    The pics are the panel in the test stand near final configuration, and the ready to go wiring harness, breakers, and rocker switch modules installed in the airplane. Looks like we lost a net 50+ pounds going getting rid of gyros, vacuum, and accessories.

    Never one to do things part way, my ADS-B compliance installation became a full fledged replacement of our vintage panel. So, our Arrow went in on December 31st, and is still in surgery as I write this. If all goes well, you should see some of the pics below, starting with the original panel, spaghetti city, and what the panel is starting to look like as of today.

    G3x Touch with 6 cylinder/turbo EIS, G5 backup AI, Guardian 553 CO monitor, G106B indicator on the center and left.
    Radio stack will be GMA345 Audio panel with Bluetooth, GNX375, 2-GNC255As, and a GNC500 that will be operational when finally certified.
    Below that, the long narrow cutout is for the new rocker switch panel. Fully backlit, with all sorts of cool options. When I press the “Prime” switch, the LED turns yellow. When I turn on the pitot heat, the LED turns red. All the other switches turn green when on. No more rollers.
    Panel itself will be powder coated in a medium dark grey.

    More to follow as the project draws to its conclusion. We’re getting her all cleaned up for OSH!
