Batavia moves to Oshkosh for EAA AirVenture week when Sporty’s Pilot Shop sets up business in its traditional 1600-square foot tent outside Hangar B in Outdoor Space #260. This year, Sporty’s presence will be augmented with an indoor booth, devoted to Stratus, located across from ForeFlight in Hangar C, Booth #3147.
“Sporty’s big tent gives everyone some elbow room to touch, hold, try on and examine the multitude of Sporty’s products on display,” says Sporty’s Vice President John Zimmerman. “We’ve created an interactive buying experience where pilots and aviation buffs can see our products up close and not just view them on a catalog or web page. Plus, we try to make our tent a fun place to be.”
Staffed by Sporty’s experts as well as by manufacturer’s reps who have made themselves available to answer questions, Sporty’s tent has another function this year. The tent will display on-going bids of Sporty’s auction for a Cirrus Vision Jet, with anything bid over list price going to charity. The auction opens on Sunday, July 23, 2017, and closes for bidding at 12 noon on Friday, July 28, 2017.
“For us, AirVenture is like a family reunion where we see our long-time customers and meet the new ones,” says Zimmerman. “Our customers are active pilots and aircraft owners and that makes them experts as well, so we welcome the feedback we get at Oshkosh.”
