Service Bulletin 1429ADownload

Service Bulletin (SB) 1429A supersedes SB 1429 in its entirety. Aircraft that were previously made compliant with SB 1429 are in compliance with SB 1429A.

SUBJECT: TRIM CABLE PULLEY RELOCATION

REASON FOR REVISION: SB 1429A revises the compliance time.

MODELS AFFECTED:

PA-28-181 Archer III

PA-28-181 Piper Pilot

SERIAL NUMBERS AFFECTED:

2881663, 2881688 thru 2881882

28020149 thru 28020214

COMPLIANCE TIME: When the cable tension of the stabilator trim cables cannot be corrected by turnbuckle adjustment or there is evidence that the trim cables are chafing on the plate aft of the trim wheel, compliance must occur with the next regularly scheduled maintenance event, but not to exceed the next annual maintenance event.

APPROVAL: The content of this service document has been reviewed and determined to already comply with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations.

PURPOSE: The affected aircraft may have stabilator trim cables with insufficient cable tension (i.e. loose) that cannot be corrected by turnbuckle adjustment. In addition, the stabilator trim cable may have evidence of chafing on the plate just aft of the trim wheel where the trim cable is routed through. Upon either condition, this service bulletin mandates the one-time completion of the required rework instructions to reposition the necessary pulley and associated mounting bracket to provide nominal cable tension for proper stabilator trim controls.

MATERIAL REQUIRED: Four (4) each, MS20470AD4 series rivets (required by Rework – Pulley Mounting Bracket Assy Relocation, Piper P/N 88762-701)

AVAILABILITY OF PARTS: Procure from your General Aviation Supplier.

EFFECTIVITY DATE: This service bulletin is effective on October 21, 2026.

SUMMARY: Applicable factory participation is limited to new aircraft in warranty at the time of compliance. Factory participation will remain in effect for a period of time not to exceed 180 days from the effectivity date of this service bulletin.

Please contact your Piper Approved Service Center to make arrangements for compliance with this service bulletin in accordance with the compliance time indicated.

NOTE: Please notify the factory of any address/ownership corrections. Changes should include aircraft model, serial number, and current owner’s name and address.

Corrections and/or changes should be directed to:
