SkyHound is the only fully self-contained portable ADS-B traffic and weather unit in existence, built and designed by pilots — visit www.HoundAvionics.com for pictures and videos.
One day, we wanted to buy a portable ADS-B unit with a built-in display, but couldn’t find one. So we built one. SkyHound is the only portable ADS-B traffic and weather unit that’s completely self-contained with a built-in display. No iPad needed.
Founded by Sholom Ellenberg and Ivan Marshalleck, two lifelong friends who met in a high school computer class and have shared a passion for aviation and technology ever since.
The response from the pilot community has been fantastic. Pilots have shown a real desire for a simple ADS-B IN solution that does not require an iPad, subscription software, or wireless connections — and one that doesn’t require looking down at your lap to see traffic. Flight Instructors in particular have embraced SkyHound, as many lacked a simple, portable traffic system they could bring from plane to plane for lessons until now.
- Built-in QLED display showing real-time traffic and weather
- Unique design fits on the glare shield
- No tablet required (although EFBs are supported)
- No subscription needed — buy it once and receive ongoing OTA software updates
- Pursuing FAA NORSEE approval, which is nearly unheard of for portable gear
