Buying an Apache
-
I am going to stop posting in this thread and I have started a new thread titled “Flying an Apache” if you wish to continue reading about 89P.
Yes, such a terrible dilemma!
Hi Eric, A terrible choice to have to fly either for work or for fun! You definitely are doing better~
GomerThanks Gomer. I appreciate the kind words! It has been a tough long haul to get to this point. And the Apache still needs work but at least it is becoming fully operational. I have to start squeezing my fun flying between my work flying. Isn’t that the way it goes? Either I have too much time on my hands because I can’t work but I can’t fly for fun or I’m coming and going all the time with work and fun flying!
Hi Eric, Sounds like things are going your way again! Great looking Apache.
Clear Skies
GomerFound the friction control knob, in the back seat jammed into the crack in the cushions. So now we are setting up the props as the governor on the left engine was set too high. Got a few flights in around the pattern. Didn’t get it done that day so had to take time off for me to go to requal training with the airline. Just finished the training so now I’m back to flying… both the Airbus for the airline and the Apache. We were able to do a few little cosmetic upgrades to the panel so it looks a bit nicer than before. At least now it seems like we are getting some traction. Of course I like that we can get down to the flying portion of the fun! Hangar pic is just before pulling the Apache out of the hangar to fly after finishing everything. Props were dressed and painted.

Got one coming from DiamondAire. I have no idea what the part number is!
I’m a parts number guy. With that, I’m able to look at many possibilities. A picture might help as well.
Kent,
No, never thought about it! It is just a plastic knob about 1.5 inches in diameter and it screws onto the side of the console. I think John Talmadge with Diamondaire may be able to help me. I’ve also put up a request on an Apache forum. But if anyone here has a lead I’m all ears!
