    Hey Steve,

    Same in my Aztec. Only one horn – the gear horn. And a flashing stall warning light.

    Sorry for taking time to get back to you!

    Thanks; PIper seemed to have an inconsistent attitude toward stall warning devices in 1960. My Comanche 180 does not require one, but Comanche 250s of the same year do. 
    Then there’s the light versus horn thing. 
    My Comanche has a gear warning horn–perhaps Piper thought that one horn was enough??

    Thanks Steve!  Sorry it took a bit to get back online.  Mine is an Aztec, and whether or not it came with a Stall Warning light….it has one 🙂

    Hi Chris,
    Sorry it’s taken time to get back to you.
    I spoke with Diamond Air; they are Apache experts.
    I was told that your vintage Apache did not come from Piper with a stall horn or a stall light.
    I was told that the stall of the big fat wing was so benign that no warning was needed.
    Please take a look at your airplane to see if there a stall warning vane (switch) installed in the leading edge of the left wing?

    I’m certainly not an Apache “expert” but my PA-23-150 doesn’t have any sort of stall warning horn or light that I’m aware of. So I don’t know if it was added later but like you my experience has been that the big, fat Apache/Aztec wing is pretty docile. So I wouldn’t be surprised if there wasn’t any need for artificial warnings even on the later ones.

    Hi all,

    My 1960 Aztec has a stall warning light, buffets before the stall and generally behaves well.  That said, was there stall warning horn on the original models?  I’m trying to find an “official” MEL but have not succeded yet.  Does anyone know?  Thanks!  Chris
