Kristin Winter, who answered you already, is a great source of info on the Piper twins. Glad to see her chiming in here.

I don’t know much about the system in question, but I’ve found that when I’m looking to troubleshoot intermittent issues in similar systems, I’ve had great luck grabbing a GoPro or camera phone, pointing it at the item in question, and recording while I do whatever the normal procedure is. Review of the video file can reveal the timing of the problem, and can be checked against the timing of other actions that you suspect may be causing or contributing to the problem.

and I mean a specific CB pop-up (from the TAS equipment)

    Hi Kristin,

    Thank you for your comment.
Actually, the reason I asked for other opinions is that we’ve been having sporadic CB pop-ups, and our mechanic thinks it could be due to this operation.
And I still haven’t been able to pinpoint the exact moment of the pop-up.

I have never operated that way, but I don’t see a problem with doing it that way. The fact that you have been doing it that way for a couple of years suggests that it is OK to do.

    Hello fellow Pipers,
I’ve had the GPU for a two years now and since then all my engines start-up have been made with external power..
The point is that, to avoid losing all the panel preparation (GPS, etc.), I turn on (with the engines already running) the master switch BEFORE disconnecting the external power.
The operations manual recommends not doing this.
    My question is:
    – Is there really a possibility of damage?
    – Does anyone operate this way without problems?

    Thanks in advance,

    Helio Mario – Brasil
