Rear Shoulder Harness Options
-
Steve,
I found Piper service bulletin 896 which lists the kits by model & serial number; this SB confirmed the kit for a PA-28-181 is 763-966. airframe@piper.com did send me the 763-966V installation instruction/drawing which included the component parts list. I was able to acquire most of the components from AVParts in Newman, GA and the mounting hardware from Aircraft Spruce. The only part I need to source yet is a 78557-002 spacer and I think I have some located from an aircraft salvage company.
I’ll post an update when I install; that’ll be months from now when warmer weather returns to the mid-west and I do my interior upgrade. ThxAttachments:Brendan,
Send an email to Piper at airframe@Piper.com.
If that doesn’t work let me know.
SteveThanks Steve. I’ve had similar results from my searches. I may have to gather up the pieces from part suppliers and do a 337. The parts manual calls out the part numbers but I’d probably need to locate a Piper installation drawing for the install. Any idea how I’d obtain a drawing?
I have a PA-28-181 that I’d like to install rear passenger shoulder harnesses. Fixed and inertia reel harnesses were an available option for the Archer in 1980. My searches are turning up lots of support suggesting this is an excellent safety upgrade, but the hardware does not seem to be readily available. I’d like to find a set of OEM inertia reel kits #763-966 or an aftermarket STC kit that has the doubler/required mounting for the shoulder harness. I’d prefer to have it an installation similar to original and not one that looks like a glommed on after thought. Thx
