Aaron,
You are doing a lot with your Seneca! I hope you will let us know how the updates work out and which you feel were or were not worth it. It sounds like you are doing exactly what I would want to do if I got a standard Seneca.

Hey Aaron;
Good for you; getting deep into the maintenance and upgrades on your Seneca will pay big dividends because you’ll better understand the systems, and knowing them, you’ll better be able to collect data if or when, a system doesn’t seem right.
We’re always looking for reader based experiences and stories. If you have time to put together a timeline of your experience, the buying experience, why you chose a Seneca and a few of the things you have learned so far in your ownership, we would love to see it.
Please keep in touch,
Steve
Steve,
We are doing some other maintenance now. One turbo overhauled, a cylinder pulled to put in a new exhaust valve, and installation of GAMIs and Merlyn wastegates. We are doing a good bit of it ourselves. It’s a good way to learn and the local A&P doesn’t mind showing us a few tricks, reviewing the work, and signing the logs. We hope to be back in the air this month. Then we will decide if we want to attempt the intercoolers ourselves.
Aaron
I’m slightly surprised that none of the shops want to take on this update.
There’s plenty of help and instruction from TurboPlus (https://www.turboplus.com/)
It’s a little bit of a task to track all the good shops in the country, but I know Kurt at Select Aircraft Services at I69 (home of Sportys). Website is https://selectaircraftservice.com/contact-us).
Let me know how this works for you.
Steve
We’ll see what we can find.

As I stated on other posts here. I purchased my first airplane this year, a 1981 Seneca III. My co-owner and I have also purchased the turbo plus intercoolers but haven’t been able to get them installed. We keep the plane in the Dayton area. All of the local shops we spoke to said that they weren’t familiar with the kit or the installation procedure. I suspect that they are busy enough with routine work and don’t need to do anything outside the norm.
Does anyone know of a good shop in Ohio or even a state or two away? Does anyone have experience installing them and have any success or failure stories?
Thanks
