    Hi Penny –
It was in her email.  Oner should not type their email out because of bots.

    Hi Kristin,
I’m also interested in your 337 for the Rajay V Band. I’m not sure how to find your email here.

    Kristin,

I would love to get a copy of the package you used, along with the FSDO. I have a Seneca II I am presently doing an annual on and it would be great to have an AMOC.

It is not in any system generally available. I could send the package I used, to Kent, if he so desires.

No idea if any other FSDO would do it. I researched and put together package that connected the part number of the turbocharger that Continental/Piper used, and the one that was used with the Rajay STC’s that are covered by the PMA. My understanding is that the Rajay turbo was a Rajay turbo was a Rajay turbo. Actually manufactured by Rotomaster. That is how I got the field approval. I presume I could do it for another aircraft with my FSDO guy, but whether it would work for anyone else is a guess.

Yep, that is good news.  How does one go about getting an answer to Steve’s question about FSDO’s issuing 337s?  I feel comfortable going to our local (Jackson, Mississippi) FSDO with most any question, if I’m sufficiently educated.  Is that field approval 337 for Kristin’s Seneca going to be in a system available to them to see?

    Kristin,
Wow. That’s great. I wonder how many FSDOs would accept the field approved 337 as acceptable data to issue a 337 for this replacement.

I have trouble understanding why it’s taking so long to get approval for replacement clamps. I expect the disconnect might be the onus of a lawsuit if a clamp fails. It’s been proven over and over again that even if one of these clamps, or another aviation product is neglected or not replaced when a condition inspection reveals problems, the company that made the clamp or other aviation related product will end up in a lawsuit.

I know one company that’s waiting for FAA approval of its replacement clamps.

To be fair, these segmented clamps have been the subject of many service bulletins for a long time.

No long ago I got a field approval to use the Rajay Turbo Products RJ0193 clamps on a Seneca II. The same process might well work for the Turbo Arrow as it is pretty much the same engine.

    Hi Henry –
I’ve asked Paul at Acorn Welding (part of the Hartzell Engine Group) if he has an update on these clamps.  We should hear back in a day or two.
I believe they might be tooling up for them.  A lot of people are asking.
